LASPI (Libraries and Schools Public Information) is a project aimed at producing various technical aids to improve local residents' access to services, develop human resources and reduce the barriers to disadvantaged groups in society benefiting from new technology as a result of gender, age or location.
Participants in this project are STO-region, Sweden;
The project is partly financed by the european commission, ISPO Office, and divided into five main fields. |

Pedagogic approach for new learning Expected results: Develop a new tool specially made for people who need encouragement or training to effectively use new technologies; these groups include elderly, disabled and unemployed people. IT information exhibition centre Expected results: Demonstrate the best practise in the use of information and communication technologies benefiting ordinary people. "Immediate" impact on enterprise via management. The meeting place offers education, exchange of ideas and business contacts. New marketing, business and production opportunities. Expected results: "Immediate " impact on enterprise via direct implantation into organisation. Enterprise may evaluate IT potential without excessive commitment. Unemployed and disadvantaged groups will find new job opportunities. Expected results: Greatly broadened information services to consumers and especially disadvantaged groups. Libraries become even more important as a meeting place for elderly, disabled and unemployed people. Expected results: Better informed and involved citizens. The information activity must contribute to deepen the democracy by creating interest, give knowledge and stimulate the debate on the municipal activities now and future wise. A good statement of aim of information in general is to create an active citizen.
To achieve these results, a working plan has been prepared which contains five different "tasks" connected to a timetable. This is a description of the current situation of each objective, the technical tools present today and the hardware and software which could be used for the project's target groups. |
